Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce (chocolate sauce)

For as long as I can remember there has been something oddly comforting about hot fudge sauce. Although I’m not a devoted chocolate fanatic, I do really appreciate a good hot fudge. This sauce is absolutely perfect to stash in your refrigerator. This is a wonderful dessert sauce to have on hand. You can mix it with milk for a wonderful and delicious hot chocolate (or chocolate milk) Then of course you could it over ice cream for the worlds best ice cream Sundaes, its even good for dipping fresh fruit in. (fondue anyone?)

Hot Fudge Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ounce bittersweet chocolate
  • 4 tablespoons butter (1 tablespoon reserved)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2/3 cups whole milk or heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup raw sugar (optional)
  • 6 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 tablespoon Arrowroot
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla brandy

In a small sauce pot over medium-low heat, combine all ingredients except 1 tablespoon of butter and the brandy or rum. Whisk to prevent burning. Once the mixture is smooth, it will only take a few extra minutes extra to thicken. Stir in remaining tablespoon of butter. Allow to cool slightly and refrigerate until needed.
